Adult Learners’ Week (19 – 25 June 2017) celebrates and promotes adult learning opportunities.
Sometimes known as the Festival of Learning, Adult Learner’s Week is now recognised in over 55 countries worldwide. It aims to highlight the value of learning during adulthood, emphasising that learning does not end at 18 but continues throughout the lifespan.
Benefits of lifelong learning include improved career prospects, a better work-life balance, a sense of achievement and improved self-esteem. Studying in later life can also help to slow down ageing, keeping the brain agile and the memory fresh.
Learning opportunities range from full-time courses to short, part-time local courses, and from university or college-based courses to online courses.
