U Michigan Expands to edX

The University of Michigan, a founding partner of Coursera, is to begin delivering courses on the edX platform this spring. The university’s Office of Digital Education & Innovation will launch the first of four programs, to include: Finance for Everyone: Smart Tools for Decision-Making; Data Science Ethics; Social Work: Meeting the Challenges of a New Era; Practical Learning Analytics. Further courses are expected to follow, with up to 200 courses being available by 2017.

Associate Vice Provost James DeVaney said the expansion reflected the institution’s “aspirations to make the resources of the university available to the broadest possible range of global learners.”
